Different techniques exist (open or closed), and the choice depends on the complexity of your specific case — that's determined during the assessment, not before.

It's suitable for people with aesthetic concerns about their nose shape, or functional breathing difficulty from structural causes. It's important to have completed facial growth (generally after age 18) before considering this procedure.

During the assessment, the surgeon evaluates nasal anatomy, skin, and available cartilage to define what changes are actually possible in your case — not every reference result is equally achievable on every nose type.

The assessment is key for this procedure — the surgeon needs to understand exactly what you'd like to change and what's anatomically realistic, to align expectations before surgery.

Surgery is performed under general anesthesia, usually takes 2 to 3 hours, and is outpatient in most cases, though an external nasal splint is used during the first week.

The splint is removed after about a week. Visible swelling goes down considerably in the first 2-3 weeks, enough to resume social activities, but it's important to know the final result — especially at the nasal tip — can take up to 12 months to fully settle.

Low-impact activities resume in 1-2 weeks; intense exercise or activities with risk of impact to the nose are restricted for several more weeks, per your surgeon's guidance.
